Aiming for 100 ambassadors

The board is offering a program of two-day workshops in five locations throughout Eyre Peninsula focused on increasing participants' knowledge of their community including key tourism locations.

Participants will also have the choice to undertake accredited Aussiehost Customer Service Training with TafeSA or a Culinary Masterclass with one of the Eyre Peninsula Culinary Team.

The board's tourism development manager Brad Riddle said the program aimed to build a network of one hundred proactive community ambassadors throughout the region who are armed with the knowledge and skills to represent their businesses and the region.

"Customer service and local knowledge is a vital aspect of enhancing the visitor experience," he said.

"We are now competing in a global market and we need to ensure that the service we provide meets or exceeds the consumers' expectations.

"In the age of technology and review sites such as TripAdvisor, getting it wrong can result in a significant cost to your business's reputation."

The program will be held in Cleve on September 8 and 9, Wudinna September 10 and 11, Port Lincoln September 16 and 17, Streaky Bay September 22 and 23, and Ceduna September 24 and 25.
