Australian franchisee to sell wagamama

Edible Concepts Holdings (ECH), the Australian franchisee of Japanese restaurant and noodle bar chain wagamama, is seeking buyers for its restaurants throughout Australia.

It is understood ECH is in talks with a number of potential buyers and other restaurant operators, both within Australia and offshore.

The London-based wagamama operates restaurants  in 17 countries. wagamama’s Australian franchisee opened in Darling Harbour in 1992 and has grown to eight restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth and Brisbane.

wagamama Australia operates as a franchise, not as wholly-owned wagamama restaurants, and the group believes there is plenty of potential for the brand to expand in Australia.
