Pimped-out ‘dausage’ makes waves

Feast your eyes on the “dausage”, a doughnut-sausage hybrid that follows in the grand tradition of combining indulgent treats that have enough calories on their own.

The dausage, invented by Liam Bennett of south Wales, consists of a pork or cumberland snag stuffed with raspberry jam.

It comes hot on the heels of the cronut (croissant-doughnut) and duffin (doughnut-muffin), but with a savoury twist.

“Everyone who has tried it has loved it,” writes Liam on his Kickstarter page, which has already raised almost $2000 to begin mass production.

The pimped-out snack has proved divisive. “What has happened to food?” asked Twitter user @punkrockhalsey.

“OH MY GOD DAUSAGE GET AWAY FROM ME,” added @infinitejlaw, who said the snack looked “disgusting”.

But the sweet-and-salty sausage has attracted some famous fans, including one of the world’s biggest porn stars, Mia Khalifa, and modelling queen Tyra Banks.

Liam, 37, has a number of other flavours in production: pork and beef with custard, venison with strawberry custard and a veggie dausage filled with cheese spread.
