SPC Ardmona's Mooroopna plant to be back in action

Food manufacturing will return to SPC Ardmona's Mooroopna factory as part of a $90 million upgrade.

In August last year, SPCA announced the closure of its Mooroopna site and a restructure which cut 150 jobs.

Today's announcement will see 45 new jobs created and a new product innovation centre built in the Mooroopna factory.

Managing director Vince Pinneri says the new jobs will be more highly skilled than those made redundant.

"The roles will be completely different. If they have the skills and they've either retrained themselves or already had the skills which weren't being utilised, then ex-employees will obviously be considered for those roles."

The Victorian Government will contribute $4.4 million to the upgrades.
