Miranda Kerr’s personal chef Kate McAloon can be yours for just $800 a day
With a price tag of $800 a day, American celebrity chef to the stars Kate McAloon wants a new wave of well-heeled clients after relocating to Sydney.
Ms McAloon’s passion for cooking has seen her working with clients like Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Meg Ryan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
Since launching the cookbook Lunchbox Solutions, which she co-authored with Miranda Kerr’s mum Therese, the chef decided to bring her skills down under.
She has partnered with White Glove Services, a prestigious nanny and governess recruitment company. The celebrity chef, who is no stranger to Sydney, said she was thrilled to be back in the country.
“I love Sydney, it is an absolutely beautiful city,” Ms McAloon said.
“I have been here before and I just admire how lovely it is. I came in 2011 with Miranda Kerr and her mother.
“We wrote Lunchbox Solutions in 2012 and then I went back to the States.
“I love the way Sydney looks. I love the food culture; there are really healthy places to buy produce.”
Ms McAloon said it was actor Megan Mullally, from television show Will & Grace, who launched her career as a celebrity chef.
“I had gone into an office to cook and all of a sudden I was cooking for her for three weeks,” she said.
“She knew Courteney Cox and she recommended me. Once people tried my cooking they just kept calling.”
And she has no shortage of celebrity anecdotes.
“I have worked with the Spielbergs, and one of the great things about Kate Capshaw, Steve’s wife, is that she loves food and loves to cook,” Ms McAloon said.
“She always had a lot of ideas for me, so it was great to create food with her.
“I would do Sunday parties with Courteney Cox and lots of celebrities would come over, and I would bring my bag of magic and create for up to 50 guests.
“Gwyneth Paltrow also loves my ‘blondies’, which is like a brownie but with coconut.”
Scarlett Hyde, chief executive of White Glove Services, said the celebrity chef was a valuable addition for her company’s clients.
“Not only is Kate a wonderful talent but she is also a friend,” she said.
“I am so pleased Kate has chosen to plant her feet on Australian soil indefinitely.
