Lap dancers land Central Queensland hotel boss in court

THE director of a company running a Central Queensland hotel has appeared in court to answer a charge related to lap dancers performing illegal acts.

Megan Furness, director of Glynmaur Pty Ltd, appeared in Biloela Magistrates Court yesterday on one count of providing adult entertainment without an adult entertainment permit.

Police will allege that two female entertainers were providing lap dances to male patrons at the Biloela Hotel Motel on August 15.

However, the matter was adjourned until October 21 after Furness was advised by Magistrate Cameron Press to seek legal advice.

He told her she would be required to make a plea at her October court appearance.

On August 14, the day before the alleged offence, the hotel had posted a notice on its Facebook site advertising the appearance of female entertainers.

"Tomorrow night, August 15, event from 7.30pm XXX girls on stage, tickets are $20 and available from the venue,'' the post read.

According to a State Government report "the term 'live adult entertainment' refers to a wide range of sexually explicit activities that have developed around the more traditional and limited concept of a striptease show".

Central Queensland police would not comment on the Biloela matter but a spokesman said officers would continue to investigate all allegations of illegal behaviour at licensed premises.
