Townsville restaurant Malt at The Brewery calls time
The Malt at The Brewery in Townsville will hold its last service at the end of June, with the owners looking to launch in new venue in its place.
The award-winning restaurant has been in operation for a decade, and has scooped plenty of accolades including being being a two-time winner of the state’s best restaurant in a pub, club or tavern in the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence in 2015 and 2016.
The locals expressed their disappointment on social media. “There will be no nice places to eat in Townsville soon,” one customer lamented.
“Noooooo! One of our favourite places to go. There’ll be nothing nice left in Townsville soon. We need to go before they close,” another customer said.
Venue manager Ben Palka was tight lipped about the future plans but did confirm another restaurant would take its place.
“It will be another restaurant, but something a little different,” he told the Townsville Bulletin.
