Entertainment Venues Australia goes into liquidation

A major South Australian pub and hotel operator has been placed into liquidation.

Entertainment Venues Australia, which operated the Royal Terrace Hotel at Kent Town, The Glenelg Pier Hotel, Propoganda club in the city, the Links Lady Bay Hotel and the Brougham Adelaide at North Adelaide, has gone bust.

The company’s director Elli Cakar was fighting a court battle over a disputed bill and had appealed against a Federal Court ruling last month ordering the winding up of his separate development company Living Australia on the grounds it is insolvent.

Warning signs were apparent late last week, with a sign on the Royal Terrace Hotel stating “due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be opening today” while the Glenelg Pier Hotel also had a sign on the window stating it was “temporarily closed for today”.

The Royal and Pier Hotel businesses, which does not include the Oaks apartments, were bought by Entertainment Venues Australia last year, after their previous operator went broke.
