Hobart restaurant’s sudden closure stumps patrons

Former patrons of a popular restaurant that closed down suddenly last week have been left scratching their heads over what to do with unclaimed gift vouchers.

The Twelve Stones in Pontville last week stated that it had shut its doors “for good” but has remained uncontactable and gave no reason for its closure leaving patrons in the dark.

The owner of the restaurant and function venue in greater Hobart posted the news on their Facebook page which has since been taken down.

Jessica Whelan and her husband Michael redeveloped the 1874-built heritage-listed Pontville building into the restaurant in 2015 before selling it to an interstate buyer for $750,000.

The building sold for $730,000 about a week ago with the new owners looking for a new team to re-open the restaurant. The business is now listed for lease with Ray White Hobart for $1000 a week plus outgoings with all furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery and glassware included in the lease.
