Gold Coast hospitality duo to open second venue Orzo
The couple behind Broadbeach’s Social Eating House are planning to open a second venue nearby.
Matt and Dayna Jefferson will open Italian restaurant Orzo in early December within the Oracle Boulevard just a few doors down from their original venue.
“We always wanted to open a second restaurant, it was more about the timing,” Dayna Jefferson told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“We’re both so passionate about the industry. Matt (chef) has so much creative energy. It was more about the challenge for ourselves and our careers.”
The couple say that they originally scouted locations in suburbs such as Mermaid Beach, Palm Beach and Burleigh, but reconsidered after questioning the value of having two restaurants in the south.
The couple say that their new venue will have a point of difference from the many other Italian restaurants on the Gold Coast, describing them as “misinterpreted”.
“We want to have traditional Italian food with a twist,” she told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
Orzo will join The Bavarian and Mecca Bah who have re-signed leases for continued tenancies at The Oracle Boulevard.
