Coopers Brewery puts faith in South Australia reopening soon
Coopers Brewery is putting its hope in a reopening of activity in South Australia sooner rather than later as the state continues its run of Covid-19 free days.
The state has gone 12 days without recording any new cases of coronavirus, with many hoping a gradual restarting of economy can begin.
Coopers Brewery managing director Dr Tim Cooper said the local hospitality industry has taken a huge hit from the Covid-19 shutdown but remains optimistic it can recover earlier than other states.
"My feeling is that we can't be shielded from the virus indefinitely,'' Dr Cooper told News Info Park, adding that it is his “hope” restrictions will be eased soon.
Coopers Brewery had withdrawn 10,000 kegs from circulation after hotels and bars were shut down in March. While packaged beer sales at Coopers had surged about 40 per cent in March as household began stockpiling that had fallen by 30 per cent in April.
A round of $10,000 cash grants to small businesses impacted by the shutdown were being paid this week.
"This works hand in glove with the Federal Government's JobKeeper program,'' South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said.
