Organised crime could be behind Sydney restaurant inferno

Police will be looking at CCTV footage to help them find suspects who burnt down a Sydney restaurant and beat its owner with a baseball bat.

CCTV footage shows two men turning up in a stolen black BMW and then walking briskly to the Strathfield restaurant. They then set off a large fireball that caused severe damage the inner west business.

Police found the car in Enfield a few hours later.

The attack occurred on January 4 this year and followed another baseball bat assault a week earlier in an underground carpark which put a man in hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives believe the incidents are linked and that those involved have ties to organised crime syndicates.

Police would like to speak with anyone with information.
