Iconic Sydney restaurant Totti’s has a Parisian twin
Iconic Sydney restaurant Totti’s has an identical twin on the other side of the world.
The connection was made between the Sydney venue and a restaurant in Paris by Instagram account Miss Double Bay, which noted the “uncanny” similarities.
“It has come to my attention that we have a doppelganger in our midst – Totti (with no ’s), an Italian restaurant located in Paris,” Miss Double Bay shared online.
“The like4like is uncanny … @merivale get the lawyers on standby.”
Merrivale chief executive Justin Hemmes responded, saying “Don’t they say ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’? I’m not sure I agree with that.”
The billionaire’s restaurant group has known about the Paris institution for some time.
Totti’s 60,000 Instagram followers decided to have some fun.
“I don’t see the famous bread??,” one person said. “Totti you can copy totties but you will NEVER work out the crabby patty formula to make the bread puff up the way it does.”
“How could they … HOW COULD THEY!!!!,” a second said.
“Juzzy Hemmes about to lawyer up.”
Totti’s Bondi opened in March 2019, the first of the growing franchise.
It is unclear when the Paris venue opened as it rebranded in its social media and posts only go back as far as May 2023.
