Sydney airport brings some Moxy to its hotel experience

Sydney’s newest airport hotel will open in September.

Moxy Sydney Airport is the first Moxy hotel to open its doors in Australia and New Zealand.

Moxy Hotels are part of Marriott Bonvoy

The new hotel is aimed at millennial travellers, as well as those looking for somewhere close to rest their heads before getting on an international flight.

History Will be Kind (HWK) will act as the hotel’s communications agency.

“Moxy is a bold, established brand around the world, so for our debut in Australia, we had a clear mission to find a partner that could help bring it to life with the energy, playfulness and style it is famed for,” Michelle Scott, general manager at Moxy Sydney Airport, said.

Moxy has been designed to showcase a different kind of airport hotel experience.

“Moxy Sydney Airport will break all the rules of a conventional hotel stay – from check in at the bar, to the stylish industrial design, tech-enabled rooms, vibrant communal spaces and inspired activations. It represents the changing face of travel in Australia, and we’re excited to be part of it,” HWBK business director, Edwina Brook said.

The 301-room hotel is at 56 Baxter Road, Mascot, Moxy Sydney Airport.

It will feature the Moxy Bar, with a check-in cocktail upon arrival, Moxy Kitchen with all day dining, a café and five meeting and event rooms.

The Marriott says the rooms “strip away the superfluous”. The hotel’s focus is on comfort and functionality and features open-storage concepts and dual-purpose foldaway furniture, so guests can customise the space as they need.

The hotel has an opening deal from $259 per night for stays between the September 1 and December 30, 2023. The offer includes a daily buffet breakfast, return airport shuttle services for two, a late check-out until 3pm, and 2,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points.

“We can’t wait to bring Moxy’s bold and playful attitude to Sydney,” Scott said.
