Security guard glassed in pub fight

Newcastle police say a security guard was 'glassed' and two people were assaulted during a fight at a Hamilton pub at the weekend.

On Friday night, the 29-year-old security guard at a Beaumont Street hotel asked three men to leave because they were drunk.

Police say he was assaulted by the trio as he tried to take their drinks and was struck in the side of the head with a schooner glass, cutting his ear.

Two other patrons were also assaulted as they tried to help the security guard.

Police are examining the pub's CCTV footage and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
