Food poisoning probe continues as eatery reopens

ACT Health says it does not have a problem with the restaurant at the centre of Canberra's largest food poisoning outbreak reopening for business.

More than 140 people fell ill and 15 were admitted to hospital after eating at The Copa Brazilian Churrasco in Dickson earlier this month.

Testing revealed salmonella bacteria in the mayonnaise.

Two Canberra law firms are preparing lawsuits aimed at compensating affected people.

The restaurant reopened at the weekend after being closed for six days while ACT Health investigated the outbreak.

Chief health officer Dr Paul Kelly says investigations are ongoing and the restaurant is continuing to cooperate.

"We work very closely with the restaurant concerned and we've identified some issues that they've needed to address and they've addressed them," he said.

"We're continuing to monitor the situation and will do so over the next few weeks and months to make sure that that's happening."
