Silos hotel earmarked for city

Construction of an 11-storey silo hotel development in Launceston is expected to start later this year.

Developer Errol Stewart has agreed to buy the site from Roberts Limited.

Mr Stewart plans to use the old grain silos on the site to build a 64-room hotel, restaurant and conference centre.

"Its pretty important from our perspective to get a start this year because we think it will take about 12 months to build and we'd be very keen to get it open for the summer of next year," he said.
