Anonymous publican buys Annandale Hotel

The real estate agent managing the sale of the Annandale Hotel in Sydney's inner west says contracts have been exchanged.

Mike Wheatley, from real estate agency Knight Frank, says the hotel has been sold to a publican who wants to remain anonymous for now.

In a statement, receivers Ferrier Hodgson said a "prominent Sydney publican" had purchased the venue.

Mr Wheatley cannot confirm whether the hotel will be run as a live music venue, but he says the settlement is due to go through in July.

The Annandale Hotel has been running since the 1930s and gained prominence as a staple of the Sydney live music scene since the 1980s, but in recent years it struggled with debt and noise complaints.

It was placed in receivership in February.
