South coast oyster producer nominated for prestigious award

A New South Wales far south coast seafood business has been nominated for a prestigious national award.

Tathra Oysters has been recognised for their produce by being nominated in the ABC Delicious magazine's annual Produce Awards.

The magazine's food director, Valli Little says the competition gives small producers a chance to be recognised at a national level.

She says the south east's produce is impressive.

"I think for a lot of people, they're small producers, they're very short on time.

“We want people to know about it, and I think it gives the small producer as well as the big producer the opportunity to have a voice and to tell about the great products that are available."

Ms Little says the quality of food from small-scale producers is improving.

"You have to take your hat off to those people and also people that are growing produce themselves and just the amazing quality.

“I think that for me the quality of the produce is just awe-inspiring."
