The public has voted: Australia’s top hotels win in the 2012 HotelClub Hotel Awards

The 2012 HotelClub Australian Hotel Awards acknowledge some of the top traditions and activities that this country is known for and the hotels that best represent them. From modern cities to spectacular outback and breathtaking beaches, these hotels offer unique specialties enjoyed by both domestic and international travellers.

HotelClub Hotel Awards is a flagship programme that honours exceptional hotels from the most popular destinations around the world. A selection of hotels were shortlisted in three categories in each state and territory that are loosely themed around: Food and Wine, Great Outdoors and Urban Jungle. The categories are uniquely tailored for specific local activities like the Top Spot to View the Famous Darwin Sunset or the Most Manolo Friendly Hotel in Melbourne.

The 2012 Australian winners and finalists have been selected by a member vote hosted on the HotelClub blog. Over 13,000 votes were cast in total with over 1,600 shares on social media.

“We received an extraordinary response from our community showing a great interest in both the distinctive categories and the hotels that best reflect them,” said Jon Wild, Marketing Director at HotelClub. “Our most popular category was for Top Trendy Hotel in Sydney, which received over 750 votes and was won by the Diamant Hotel.”

“Australia is a top destination for both our domestic and international members. Increasingly, they are looking for hotels that stand out from the crowd with unique features and are recommended by their peers. We hope these awards benefit potential travellers in helping them make more informed choices when booking hotels.”
