Pubs join forces, with Lion's backing

Publicans from the Sydney suburb of Paddington have banded together to build awareness and promotion of the precinct in an effort to increase foot traffic and boost business.

The Paddington Pub Precinct (PPP) is comprised of the owners and operators of nine venues who recognise the amplified voice of many is more effective than one.

They have just kicked off their 'Prance into a Paddington Pub' activity, offering a month-long series of events, such as live acts, wine dinners, meal promotions and happy hours.

Guests at a special meeting at the Imperial Hotel last week included senior members of Lion, who arranged an appearance by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) and former Wallabies captain, Matt Burke.

Lion trade relations director Doug May told TheShout he was proud to be involved in the initiative.

"It was a great opportunity for Hahn Super Dry and the ARU (Australian Rugby Union) to support the Paddington Pub Precinct for the Wallabies game on Saturday 23rd June.

"The pubs created an amazing atmosphere for supporters before and after the game, and lucky for us, the Wallabies won!

"We're happy to see a group of active, motivated publicans working together to create memorable customer experiences."

The PPP has drawn the support of the City of Sydney Council, and over 60 flags have been erected on Oxford St, Anzac Parade and South Dowling Street to highlight the promotion.

The venues involved are the London, Grand National, The Imperial, Paddington Inn, Bellevue, Light Brigade, Olympic, Paddington Arms and The Royal.
