G20 to boost Brisbane hotel industry

Brisbane's accommodation industry is anticipating a boost when the city hosts the G20 summit in 2014.

Accommodation Association of Australia CEO Richard Munro says while the conference is too soon for new properties to be built, it will highlight the range of hotels already on offer in southeast Queensland.

"It'll be a real chance for Queensland to showcase itself as a serious event holder," he told AAP.

Mr Munro said he expected "shoulder areas" such as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast to also benefit from the world leaders' meeting.

Accommodation providers would most likely refurbish or reinvest in their existing properties in the lead-up to the summit, he said.
