Quest is expanding in Canberra.

Plans are afoot to open a second hotel in the ACT.

Quest has announced it is looking to open hotel number two in the ACT in 2019.

It will be developed by Sandran Property Group which bought the site in 2001

The $15 million development will be known as the Quest Canberra City Walk, located at 240 Canberra City Walk.

The 84 key apartment hotel will also feature studio, one-and two-bedroom apartments. The ground floor will used for the hotel’s reception and lobby.

It’s a development enhancing the site’s multi-purpose use and will feature an existing commercial office building.

The existing mezzanine will reconstructed with a new entrance and stairwell to service the business lounge and conference facilities which are now starting to boom in Canberra.

Added to that, guests will have onsite parking and a gym.

Quest General Manger – Growth, James Shields said the second Quest property would enhance the ACT market.

“As Australia’s capital, Canberra is bustling with government workers, conventions and corporate meetings. The public sector generates a significant proportion of economic output and contributes to a sizable proportion of travel, with over 30% of trips generated being for business travel,” Mr Shields told Hotel Management.

“The development site is ideally located in the heart of Canberra’s CBD, positioned between Canberra Centre, Glebe Park and the National Convention Centre. The City Walk pedestrian strip boasts a range of shops and amenities, including Myer, Coles and David Jones. London Circuit, a short walk from the property, hosts a large amount of the CBD commercial office space, with major government and private sector tenancies.

“Quest Canberra City Walk will cater to the increased demand for corporate accommodation in this expanding hub.”

The new hotel is critical at a time when there is increased demand for corporate accommodation in the city.
