W Hotels re-enters Australia

W Hotels part of Marriott International is re-entering Australia.

It’s doing it with the opening of W Brisbane.

W Brisbane will have 312 guestrooms.

These will include 32 lux suites all brimming with river views. It will offer the latest in technology and entertainment.

The hotel itself is owned Shayher Group and it is well-located overlooking Brisbane River.

The new hotel is designed to deliver a mix of fast-paced urban style and modern design, focusing on Brisbane’s vibrant culture and rich nightlife.

Situated riverside in the city’s Central Business District, W Brisbane is steeped in the history of the area.

“Brisbane is a dream destination – year-round sun and an outdoor lifestyle – it’s quickly evolving into one of the world’s greatest cities which is why W is kicking off the brand’s return to Australia here in the Sunshine State,” Bruce Ryde, vice president for luxury brands, Marriott International Asia-Pacific told Breaking Travel News.

“Brisbane’s bustling riverbank is a hotspot for travellers who can’t wait to explore this dynamic city and south-east Queensland, a perfect match for W Hotels’ bold design and playful, contemporary approach to luxury.”

The hotel is designed to present guests with a sensory environment with a staircase of timber river reeds leading visitors to the Welcome Desk and the Living Room

The arrival entrance and the hotel’s public spaces are filled with earth tones, sedimentary layers and frayed edges. It has all the raw beauty associated with the Australian outback

All of this is highlighted by the bold and colourful artwork from celebrated Australian artists including John Nicholson, Lucas Grogan and Reko Rennie.

The hotel’s Living Room has intricately designed rugs that complement the walls and echo the flora and fauna of Brisbane’s sub-tropical environment.

The last branded W hotel in Australia was the W Sydney. That closed a decade ago.
