Mega restaurant, cellar door and cidery planned for the Adelaide Hills

Sidewood Estate will open a new cellar door, cidery and 150-seat restaurant in Hahndorf in mid-January 2020.

The new property is a five-minute drive from the winery’s existing cellar door is at Maximillian’s Restaurant in Verdun.

“We are passionate about the Adelaide Hills and have always taken pride in being an active part of the local community,” co-owner Owen Inglis said.

“We want Sidewood Cellar Door and Restaurant to add yet another dimension to the wonderful food and beverage experiences that already exist in our unique part of the world.

“We are using local tradespeople, builders and designers on the development as well as … local stone and timber. We will also showcase many other outstanding local producers from our region at the restaurant and cellar door.”

The new venue will feature a massive outdoor decked area and enclosed outdoor dining space with a retractable roof and a woodfired-oven “pizza kitchen”.

“As our business continues to grow it’s also vitally important for our brand to evolve,” said co-owner Cassandra Inglis.

“The space will reflect our award-winning, contemporary wines and ciders, and our beautiful surroundings. The clean and sleek, modern design of the restaurant and cellar door will feel elegant but approachable, relaxed and authentic.”
