Hotel proposal for Gold Coast’s Main Beach hinges on development deal

Main Beach could see a new 5-star hotel being built if a deal on a development site gets inked.

A Brisbane group has a conditional contract on a site that has been approved for towers twice in the past three years, with a sign saying a “luxury five-star boutique hotel is coming soon” now on the land.

Reports in the Gold Coast Bulletin suggest that the hotel would only have four or five levels if constructed.

The owner of the land is the Garry Rothwell-founded Winten group, with suggestions the possible sale would be more than $16 million.

The hotel would be a boost for Main Beach, which has not seen a new tower for 11 years.
