One step closer for $700m twin-tower project on Broadbeach

A proposed $700 million twin-tower mixed development across the road from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is one step closer after securing council approval.

Developer John Potter is looking to secure funds from hotel investors for his project which would include two 67-level towers with room for nearly 1500 residents including 458 residential units.

The hotel component of the project would feature 418 one-bedroom serviced apartments that average 66sqm and would sit below the residential units in the complex.

The Central on Broadbeach plans also include 1704sqm of retail and 600sqm of office space located on the ground floor and levels one and two.

Craig Perry, who is project manager for Central on Broadbeach, said he was confident the project would get off the ground.

“This is a large project, but location wise that hotel component is sought after and that will allow it to move forward,” he said. “It is crucial for the project as a whole.”

If all goes to plan, the towers are slated to open by 2022.
