Sydney burger bar Milky Lane heading to Brisbane

Sydney’s burger outlet and bar Milky Lane is heading north with its first venue opening in Brisbane on September 11 at Newstead’s Gasworks precinct.

Opening next door to new Middle Eastern casual diner Mecca Bah, the fast food restaurant has a huge social media presence due to its extravagant bun creations and decadent, milkshake-style cocktails.

“It’s a brand new build, which is kind of cool for us because we’re normally taking over existing spaces, but this lets us design something completely unique,” director Christian Avant told the Courier Mail.

The $1 million fit-out for the 200-seat venue includes changing coloured neons, 3D-designed pieces like head phones and vinyl decks hanging off walls and hip hop-themed murals from acclaimed Brisbane artist Sofles.

The food offering will be consistent with their seven New South Wales stores and Gold Coast outlet, as will their speciality, over-the-top cocktails.

Avant has high hopes for the new venue, expecting it to match the newly opened Newcastle store which saw over 5000 people in the first week.
