Multi-million-dollar entertainment and cultural precinct planned for to Lake Macquarie
Plans for a multi-million-dollar entertainment and cultural precinct with an event space have been put to Lake Macquarie council.
Winarch Capital’s $235 million development at Morisset Country Club, which will be known as at Cedar Mill, includes a new concert venue, restaurants and cafes and Australia’s largest water splash park.
Winarch Capital managing director Paul Lambess said they think it “could be fantastic for the area and region”.
The Cedar Mill’s 28 hectare cultural, arts and events space includes a thirty-thousand capacity outdoor concert venue, with trees to provide shade for concert and festival goers.
Lambess said music industry leaders “have given it the thumbs up”.
“We’re creating a site that can attract, national A grade artists,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
“Promoters, event organisers, site managers have all be on site and been extremely enthusiastic, so there’s very strong interest.”
Gardens, a petting zoo, cafes, restaurants and bakeries are also part of the plans, along with tourism accommodation.
The developer is hoping to get approvals by the year’s end and be up and running by September 2020.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the Cedar Mill development was “very exciting for Morisset and Lake Macquarie”.
“The plans for Cedar Mill are very ambitious and it is wonderful to see such a vision that will translate into more things to do locally, more jobs for the area and a massive ongoing injection into our local economy,” he said.
