New eSports mega venue for Melbourne

A new eSports complex will open in Emporium Melbourne next year.

Fortress Melbourne will feature a 200-seat arena, gaming suites, a restaurant and two bars across two floors.

Fortress Esports boss Jon Satterley told the Herald Sun he “wanted to build a home away from home for lovers of games”.

“Our difference from other eSports arenas around the world is we offer a lot more,” he said.

“We recognise eSports is a huge industry now, especially at the elite level but what about the local players in the suburbs and the country? We’re really looking to cater for them as well.”

Fortress Esports have partnered with Allied eSports, who operate the Las Vegas HyperX eSports arena.

Emporium Melbourne said they were thrilled to work with Fortress.

“Emporium Melbourne’s city location makes it the obvious choice for an esports arena and gaming venue that will cater to all audiences,” said Vicinity Centres chief development officer Carolyn Viney.

Fortress Melbourne plans to officially open early next year and is looking to build more centres across Australia and New Zealand in years to come.
