Hobart’s Crescent Hotel sale attracts global interest

The sale of a heritage-listed Hobart pub has attracted prospective buyers from across the world.

The Crescent Hotel in North Hobart has been put up for sale for $129,000.

So far 18 inquiries had been received including some from Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The building was bought for $1.1 million by Jiecheng International in 2016, while the business is owned by local Rob Wilson, who acquired the business in 2015 with an intention of developing motel accommodation at the site. The project did not end up going ahead, with the pub business closing within about six months and has been unoccupied since.

“It’s a good little pub with a lot of potential,’’ he told The Mercury.

The ground floor hotel includes a bar, dining and commercial kitchen with a first-floor apartment that sleeps 10, and large external deck.

Link Business Brokers Tasmania director Nawwar Alshawi said the sale was a good opportunity “for someone to bring a bit of energy into that spot”.
