New Appointments at VTIC

The Victorian Tourism Industry Council has announced the appointment of two new team members to assist in the ongoing representation of the industry. Melinda Anderson has been appointed as VTIC's Business Development and Operations Manager, in a new role developed to cover two key areas of the business. Letitia Hatton also joins the team as Policy Manager.

"Melinda will join the team to ensure that we continue to deliver on our operational commitments effectively and manage stakeholder relations including key government agencies," says VTIC Chief Executive Dianne Smith. "Melinda will also explore new membership and growth opportunities so we can continue to speak with one united voice for the entirety of the Victorian tourism and events industry."

Melinda brings more than 16 years of experience as a tourism marketing professional to VTIC, having held key industry positions in three states in the public, private and tertiary sectors.

Melinda joins VTIC from her previous position as Tourism Manager of Launceston City Council in Tasmania. Well-known in the Victorian industry, Melinda has also had experience at Tourism Victoria, Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Tourism and the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism Research at Victoria University.

VTIC will welcome Melinda to VTIC from Monday 27 August.

VTIC also welcomes Letitia Hatton who joins the team as Policy Manager, covering the role of Kristina Burke who will shortly depart for maternity leave.

"As Kristina has successfully done so for the past four years, Letitia will assume the important role of maintaining regular contact with the industry, listening to what our members want and need and discussing how VTIC can help make a positive difference to operators' lives," says Ms Smith.

Letitia completed her Masters of Tourism and has recently returned to Melbourne from Canberra, where she spent the past three-and-a-half years working for the Australian Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.

"Letitia's experience has given her a great understanding of government processes and issues that will be invaluable as VTIC Policy Manager," says Ms Smith.

"VTIC remains the leading body for tourism industry representation and is well respected by both governments and industry. We look forward to both Melinda and Letitia joining the team to help continue to represent our members effectively," she says.
