New pub group snaps up greenfield sites

Balmoral Hospitality Group has acquired two greenfield sites in NSW and Queensland.

The new pub group, headed by Andrew Denmeade and Joel Fisher, has purchased a site in Flagstone, a new greenfield development in south-east Queensland; and another on the waterfront of Shellharbour, south of Sydney. Both sites were acquired through HTL Property.

The Flagstone Hotel site is located in one of Australia’s largest urban-zoned greenfield developments. Already, Flagstone is home to approximately 6000 residents, with plans for 50,000 homes for 120,000 residents, with 10,000 people employed within the community.

“Andrew and I are very excited about this opportunity,” said Fisher. “The growth of the Flagstone area is fast paced, with the new Coles Shopping Centre being constructed alongside the site set to open mid next year. For us, Flagstone has very similar demographics and economic drivers to that of Shellharbour when we purchased that particular site back in 2012 in order to construct and open the Central Hotel. Like the Central Hotel, we plan to develop a family friendly venue at Flagstone that will cater for all ages.”

The Group also purchased a waterfront site in Shell Cove this week.

“We’re excited about the opportunity this world class precinct provides, and with decades of local hospitality experience, our group is ecstatic about winning the tender to deliver what we believe will be the jewel in the crown foe the region,” said Denmeade.

At roughly 1400 sqm, the Waterfront Tavern plans include a family bistro area, sports bar with TAB, gaming room, informal indoor and outdoor seating, private dining areas, freestanding bar, open plan kitchen and fireplace seating.

The Waterfront Tavern is expected to be completed in 2021.
