Aria get greenlight for 5-star hotel on Sunshine Coast
A new landmark 5-star hotel development has been approved for the Sunshine Coast.
Residential developer Aria Property Group has received approval for the $350 million development at 1 The Esplanade in Mooloolaba, opposite Mooloolaba Surf Club.
The integrated 139-room resort will feature shops and restaurants, a day spa, conference facility and publicly accessible roof-top bar and restaurant.
The announcement is the latest in a series of mega development for the Queensland region, with Kelly Slater looking to build a $100 million surf ranch in 2021 and the construction of a new $225 million international runway at the local airport.
Architecture firm Elenberg Fraser have been picked to design the tower, with the project's rooftop to reference buildings like the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, W Hotel Barcelona and One Hotel South Beach Miami.
