Yoko restaurant completes Howard Smith Wharves vision

The final piece of the Howard Smith Wharves puzzle is complete with the opening of restaurateur Jonathan Barthelmess’ new Japanese restaurant. 

Casual izakaya-style Japanese restaurant Yoko has opened next door to his Greek eatery Greca, offering a 180-seat retro-style venue with an upstairs bar that also doubles as a function space, with a DJ and private chef. 

“Fun and vibey” features include an alcoholic slushie machine, a range of Japanese whiskies and a wall of custom, retro-style fridges holding the 150-bottle wine list. 

Helmed by head chef Kitak Lee and executive chef Ben Russellhave, the sharing menu includes small and large plates with plenty of seafood options, along with sashimi, tempura, gyoza, tempura.
