Accor picks Hobart to open its first Movenpick-branded hotel in Australia

Hobart is set to welcome Australia’s first Movenpick-branded hotel after management of a new build hotel switched from Hyatt to Accor.

A report in the Mercury says plans for the hotel being built in the Elizabeth Bus Mall to be branded under the Hyatt Centric badge have been shelved following a change in property management.

Claire Vervaart, the president of the Australian Institute of Builders Tasmanian chapter, posted on social media that hotel was due to open in April.

“The project is progressing well, with handover due by Easter 2020. We were able to view a prototype room and various stages of fit-out across different floors, taking in the impressive views of the waterfront from the 17th floor,” she posted.

When completed the hotel will be among Hobart’s tallest buildings.
