New $40m hotel planned for North Haven Marina

Plans for a new $40 million waterfront hotel and conference facilities 20kms north of Adelaide have been unveiled.

The new owners of North Haven Marina have released plans for the $40 million development which include a 130-room hotel, conference and event facilities, a restaurant, bar, library, lounge and gym.

A global tender is underway to secure an operator of the hotel, which is due to open in early 2023.

“It is already very difficult for visiting defence industry personnel to secure short-term accommodation near Techport and demand will only grow,” general manager Scott Newman told The Advertiser.

“Furthermore, with access to Techport being highly restricted for security reasons, a large proportion of business meetings will need to be held off-site.”

Tourism Minister David Ridgway said the hotel project would support the state’s $7.6 billion visitor economy.

“The project and its flow-on investment will create its own economic momentum, just like that which is already being seen in the urban redevelopment of inner Port Adelaide,” he told The Advertiser.

Designed by Hames Sharley and Studio Tekton, the hotel development will be lodged with the State Commission Assessment Panel for development approval.
