Investor Daybreak Holding buys home of Rockpool and Spice Temple

The art deco home of two of Sydney fine restaurants has been acquired by a Macau-backed private investment group.

Daybreak Holding Australia paid $40 million for the building that houses Rockpool Bar & Grill and Spice Temple from the previous owner, Spanish company Allegra European Holdings, who paid $30 million in 2016.

The property at 66 Hunter Street first came on the market in the middle of the year, with expressions of interest closing in August.

The 2000sqm retail space is leased to the Urban Purveyor Group's Rockpool Dining Group on a 10-year lease with options, which turn over a net annual rent of about $2 million which is tied to an annual rent increase of 4 per cent.

A new Martin Place metro station set to be built across the road is considered to add value to the property.
