Mass make out session in Newtown bar after homophobic slurs

The manager of a pub in Sydney’s inner west found a novel way to hit back at homophobic patrons.

Patrons at The Bank Hotel in Newtown were overheard using homophobic language by bar supervisor Thiago Baldin.

Instead of throwing them out, Baldin put a call out to gay group Harbour City Bears "to go down and make out in front of them."

A total of 50 men took up the challenge and kissed in the pub in front of the group of offending patrons, who left shortly after.

"I want to thank everyone that responded to my call during Bears at The Bank this afternoon," Baldin wrote on Facebook.

"It’s exciting and inspiring to see everyone on board, standing up for one of ours that was humiliated and degraded.

"It made me really emotional that all I had to say was that a group of people was being rude and using the word faggot, and, without question, you guys were up to help.

"I’ve never been so proud, THANK YOU, everyone!"
