Vegan activists say Brisbane steak house protest is ‘just the beginning’

Vegan activists from interstate are targeting Queensland over its "very heavy" focus on livestock agriculture.

More than 20 members of activist group Direct Action Everywhere targeted The Black Hide Steakhouse in Brisbane over the weekend, chanting during the dinner service "it's not food, it's violence".

The group has gained notoriety in Western Australia after holding protests at a Perth butcher, an abattoir and a farm outside the capital.

"We came here to Brisbane because it's a very heavy animal agriculture state, here in Queensland," spokesman Arkadiusz Swiebodzinski told 7NEWS.

"We always plan for more. This is just the beginning.”
