Lamington bacon burger on the menu for Australia Day

An Adelaide restaurant has created a special burger for Australia Day, but the online critics are divided on whether they like it or not.

Chuck Wagon 175 has released a classic beef and bacon burger, but replaced the buns with chocolate lamingtons.

They shared a photo on social media with the caption; “Alright she’s on! Australia Day is coming and we’re rolling out the specials!

“Double beef, double bacon, double cheese between two Aussie lamingtons! Say what you want. you know you love it! Available Australia Day week!”

The online reaction was fast.

“Are these cream-filled lamingtons or plain? Just trying to work out how many extra cholesterol tablets I’d need to take,” said one person.

Others were not convinced by the combination of sweat and savoury.

“You can’t do this to bacon – it’s just wrong!” said another.

Some were offended by the concept itself.

One wrote; “This is offensive on 36 different levels … They’ve ruined two meals here.”

There were supporters though.

“I don’t know how drunk I’d need to be to eat one of these. But I’ll be past the point by 2pm on the day,” one fan posted.
