Blue Mountains heritage hotel hits the market

A historic hotel in the Blue Mountains is up for sale with price expectations of more than $2.4 million.

Originally built as a grand mansion for The Sydney Morning Herald proprietor John Fairfax in 1876, the building was remodelled as a hotel soon after.

Current owners Denise and her partner Garry paid $1.1 million for Mount Victoria Manor in 2015, but are selling in order to pursue other business opportunities. The couple have also said they are open to a leasehold for the hotel business only.

Located in Mount Victoria on an 8000sqm estate, the hotel has 10 rooms with en suites, four family rooms with en suites, a two-bedroom apartment and a four-bedroom apartment.

An 80-seat restaurant and licensed bar are also onsite.

“It’s a beautiful function space which has already had bookings for weddings but could be promoted more, so the current owners would anticipate a young couple coming in, running it themselves and living on site,” said selling agent Kristie Trouchet-Nilsson, of Hartley Real Estate.

“It’s got the accommodation so guests can book the whole place and set up beautiful marquees and really utilise the grounds.”
