Council approval for new 208-room Devonport hotel

A new 208-room hotel in Tasmania’s Devonport has been given the greenlight by council.

Devonport City Council approved the planning application for the waterfront hotel, which has 137 rooms more than originally planned,

The hotel is a major part of the $15 million waterfront park redevelopment due for completion in early 2021.

Speaking to The Advocate, Cr Leon Perry said the development showed “incredible confidence” in Devonport.

Cr Lynn Laycock said it was “exciting times for Devonport”.

“Let’s move forward and get the hotel built so we can move onto getting more big conferences in Devonport,” she told The Advocate.
