Illawarra restaurateur accused of assaulting ex-wife refused bail

An Illawarra restaurant owner accused of strangling his ex-wife and posting an intimate image of her on Facebook has been refused bail in a Wollongong court.

Restaurateur Daniel Dafkovski has had his application for bail refused bail by Magistrate Michael Stoddart.

Dafkovski is behind bars after allegedly strangling his estranged wife and throwing her down the stairs following an argument about the custody of their two children.

During the heated conversation, his estranged wife accidently sent him a text meant for her mother describing his behaviour. Dafkovski is alleged to have entered his wife’s room before choking her with both hands on the bed.

He was only stopped after a neighbour banged on the door, according to court documents.

It’s then alleged he pulled his wife out of the bedroom before pushing her down a set of stairs.

After seeking refuge at a neighbour’s house, she reported the alleged incident to police and Dafkovski was arrested and charged with choking and assault.

Dafkovski will return to court later this week.
