Coronavirus alert for diners at Melbourne restaurant

Diners who ate at a restaurant in Melbourne’s east have been warned to look out for symptoms of the deadly coronavirus after a man in his 60s was confirmed as having the virus.

The man ate at Chinese restaurant House of Delight in Glen Waverley on Australia Day before being diagnosed with the coronavirus, with health officials warning other diners they may have been exposed and to look out for symptoms over the next 14 days.

The department ate at the restaurant with his five family members between 5.30pm and 7pm on January 26.

“That restaurant is OK to go to now, people don't need to avoid the area or indeed anywhere else,” said Victoria Chief Health Officer, Dr Brett Sutton.

The man and his family have been isolated while they await tests.

The restaurant has since closed as a precaution.

“In order to minimize the risk of the Novel Coronavirus, our restaurant is closed from 29th Jan, 2020 to 9th Feb, 2020,” a sign on the door reads.

“Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
