Local favourite Mr Pilgrim reopens in Semaphore

Locals in Adelaide beachside suburb Semaphore are celebrating the reopening of Mr Pilgrim café.

Local councillor David Wilkins was one local who welcomed the news on his Facebook page.

“Praise be! Mr Pilgrim cafe in Semaphore is officially open. Tell your friends, tell your neighbours, tell your friend’s neighbour’s dog!” he posted.

Owner Paul Schopfer closed Mr Pilgrim when its lease ended after more than five years on Semaphore Rd.

He operated a coffee cart out front of the old location until he found a new site in the form of an old gymnasium.

After a four month fit-out, the all-new Mr Pilgrim opened over the weekend.

“It’s like we never left,” he told The Advertiser. “This cafe is about being local and everyone supports us.

“We tried to replicate the old premises... we have the same feature wall with doors (and) the same feature tiles.”

Now the new venue is open he says he is looking to get a liquor licence this year.
