‘Rain and roadworks’ behind demise of Gold Coast cafe

A Gold Coast cafe has blamed “road work and rain” for its decision to close its doors suddenly.

The owner of the Neighbourhood Espresso café in Currumbin Waters, Cleo Watterson, posted news of its closure on Facebook.

“Due to road work, rain and a few other factors, we are unable to reopen Neighbourhood Espresso at this time,” the post stated.

“We will endeavour to re-establish the cafe in the future.”

The staff at the child-friendly cafe have been “redeployed” according to a sign on its doors.

“Regarding staff, as you may be aware Donna has moved to the Sunshine Coast,” it reads.

“Ross will be working at Dune Cafe and other staff have been deployed.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
