Captain Cook Hotel in Botany sells for $17m

A heritage listed hotel in Sydney’s Botany has sold for $17 million.

The Captain Cook Hotel was sold by the Shannon family in an off-market deal to Fanatics founder Warren Livingstone.

Built in 1906, the hotel operates under a 24-hour liquor licence and has 18 gaming machines, with approval for a new gaming room.

The acquisition marks Livingstone’s third pub in Sydney including the Charing Cross Hotel in Waverley and Hyde Park House (formerly Hotel William) in Darlinghurst.

Speaking to Commercial Real Estate, Livingstone said the acquisition gives him “some economies of scale and buying power”.

“I’m in it for the long haul now but I still enjoy taking a few sporting events around the world every now and then,” he said.

HTL Property’s Sam Handy said the pub is set to see a boost in gaming performance following the introduction of a gaming room smoking solution.
