George Calombaris pulls out of Noosa Eat & Drink Festival

George Calombaris has been forced to abandon his planned appearance at the Noosa Eat & Drink Festival following the collapse of his restaurant empire.

Calombaris was due to cook alongside popular TV chef Miguel Maestre at the newly rebranded event in May.

Calombaris is currently trying to sell the remaining venues that closed without notice when his Made empire went into administration. To date only three venues of his 12 venues have been offloaded

The full festival program is set to be released today, with another familiar TV chef set to replace Calombaris. Other chefs confirmed in the line-up include Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan, Manu Feildel, Neil Perry, Matt Moran, Kirsten Tibballs and Mark Best alongside locals Alastair McLeod, Matt Golinski, Matt Sinclair and Alanna Sapwell.

Preston, Mehigan and Calombaris quit MasterChef in July last year. While Preston and Mehigan were signed up by Channel Seven for new show Plate of Origin with Feildel, Calombaris has seen his fortunes go from bad to worse.
