Hotel pivots to remote office space to lure back guests

Hotels are looking for ways to make up for the savage downturn in business in the wake of the Covid-19, with one hotel in Sydney looking to attract executives tired of working from home.

Spicers Hotel in Potts Point is offering customers a 'Remote Office Day Package' from between 8am to 6pm, which includes free coffee, wi-fi, onsite parking, private suite and a light lunch. And if the work drags on customers can simply stay overnight for an extra fee.

The self-isolation office space solution is a canny marketing pitch in an environment that is encouraging office workers to stay home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The four-star hotel is one of many that have seen occupancy rates fall off a cliff, with many having to close down altogether during the crisis.

Hotel owners and operators are facing losses of up to 30 per cent until 2022 when travel returns to normal, according to hotel consultancy firm Dransfield.
